Haldir paused at a stream to take lunch. Lunch consisted of water and lembas again.
"I swear to you, lembas is not all we eat." He said with a chuckle as he nibbled his lembas.

Airendiel laughed. "Oh really Haldir, its quite alright." Airendiel pulled her boots off and dipped her toes in the stream. "Ah, nice and cool." She leaned back, closing her eyes and turning her face upward towards the sun.

Haldir smiled at this sight. She was quite beautiful and she was captivating him. How odd that no other woman has been able to do that until now. What was it about this woman that stuck out from all the rest?

Airendiel sighed happily and moved to get a piece of lembas. After her long journey she wasn't about to let food slip by. She looked at Haldir and smiled. How wonderful it was that he was here, he was so kind. She felt her heart swell in happiness at being with him.

Haldir smiled at her again.
"Ready to continue?" He asked and held out his hand to her.

Airendiel smiled and took his hand. "Sure. Although this place is really quite lovely. The stream is particularly nice." She laughed, not really sure what at, but after being so sad for so long laughing was very nice.

"It is a place I will bring you back to one day." Haldir promised, smiling at her musical laughter.

And Haldir did just that. He led her, quickly but carefully, to the city.
"Are you expected here?" He whispered in her ear.

Airendiel bit her lip. "I may be, it is possible that my foster-mother sent word ahead, but I do not know." She was silent for some time. "Will it be difficult to enter if I am not?"

Haldir thought for the longest time and then turned to her, smiling.
"I might be able to pull some strings. One little white lie won't hurt anyone." He said confidently, now sure of what he could do to help Airendiel.

Airendiel smiled back. "Thank you. I would very much like to get in to the city so that I may meet my grandmother." She gave Haldir a brief hug. "You've been so kind to me even though you don't know me. Thank you so much Haldir, mellonamin."

Haldir held back an uncharacteristic blush. He smiled.
"You've no need to thank me. I am more than happy to assist you." He said and they went on their way again.

Airendiel smiled, how nice it was to have a friend again. She may have still had friends in Rivendell, but none had come to see her off. Then again, most hadn't known she was leaving. If she returned she knew they would be mortified. Wait, when did returning become an if? She had always assumed, up till now that she would return eventually. Now though, she didn't know if she wanted to.

Haldir gave Airendiel a sideways glance and frowned.
"You look pensive." He said casually as he looked ahead of himself again.
