Airendiel grinned, then covered a yawn with her hand. "A trick I picked up when I was younger, simple levitation really." She yawned again and began setting out her blankets, "It didn't used to tire me out so badly though, I guess I've gotten out of practice." She lay her pack and sword next to her bed and curled up under her blanket. "Thanks for taking first watch Haldir. I can't remember the last time I actually slept." She lay on her side, blanket wrapped around her and stared for a while at the fire.

Haldir stared for a moment pushing back the slight suspicion that entered his mind. Then he shrugged and said, "Seems useful." Then lay back against a tree to begin his watch. He knew he'd let her sleep all night without sleeping himself but he didn't mind. He was used to staying awake all night.

Airendiel fell asleep quickly, for once since starting her journey she was not plauged by nightmares. As the sun began to peak over the horizon she stirred, her eyes fluttered open. When she was fully awake she realized that it was dawn, Haldir hadn't awakened her for her watch. She groaned as she rubbed the sleep from her eyes, her blanket falling off her shoulders as she sat up. "You didn't wake me for my watch." Her tone was more confused than anything else.

Haldir smiled. "Well, good morning to you too." He chuckled softly. "I'm used to staying up all night. Don't worry yourself over it."

Airendiel smiled, "Sorry, I'm not always the most sociable person in the morning. Also being on the road for a while, I forgot the basic niceties like 'Good morning'. So what's there to eat?"

Haldir rifled through his pack and pulled out tow leaf bound squares.
"Lembas and water." He said with a half smile, half grimace. He wished he had something far more appetizing to offer her.

Airendiel smiled, "Alright. It's probably better than what I've been eating." She laughed, "My bread went kind of stale halfway here so...it's more or less inedible now." She took one of the squares and unrapped it. She inhaled lightly. "Smells good at least." She bit into it, "Deffinately tastes better than stale bread."

Haldir laughed softly.
"I should hope it tastes better than stale bread. It is far better to have when traveling." He said as he bit into his own piece of lembas.

Airendiel shrugged, "Yes, I suppose it would be." She paused, washing her lembas down with a drink of water. "I wonder why it is we don't have this in Rivendell..."

Haldir thought on this for a moment.
"Perhaps it is because there is no need for it in Rivendell? Here in Lorien, we are ever watchful and on duty. We need such things to keep us sustained that can be easily carried." He said thoughtfully.

Airendiel smiled, "Yes, perhaps so. Our valley is so well concealed it seems a wonder that any find it at all." She frowned a bit. "Not so well hidden as to deter wandering bands of orcs though." She looked down at her lap and sighed, then quickly shook off her sadness. Soon she would find her true family and all would be well.

Haldir watched Airendiel closely. It was brief, only a flicker, but there was a definite sadness in her eyes.
"Shall we continue on our way?" He asked cheerily.

Airendiel looked up and smiled, how could she ever have been unhappy with him here? "Yes, lets. I'm eager to meet my grandmother."

Haldir smiled once more before helping her to her feet and leading the way over them many roots and the occasional boulder and stream. Airendiel was nimble and graceful. A wonderful combination for an elf. He came to the sudden, and nearly startling, conclusion that he admired her greatly.

Airendiel smiled even brighter as Haldir helped her up. She followed him across the roots, streams, and boulders; feeling happier than she had in a long time. She was so happy that he was her friend. Maybe...she thought, more than a friend.
