O.k. so here's the recipe I found last Friday. Ingredients- 2 1/2 cups of flour
- 1 Tablespoon of baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon of salt
- 8 Tablespoons of cold butter
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 2/3 cup milt
- 1/2 teaspoon lemon extract
Directions- Preheat oven to 425 degrees.
- Mix flour, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl. Chop butter into mixture with a pastry cutter or knead with fingers until you get a crumbly mixture. Add sugar and mix. Add milk and lemon extract and stir with a fork until dough forms.
- Roll the dough out about 1/2 inch thick. Cut out 3 inch squares and transfer to a cookie sheet. Criss-cross each square from corner to corner with a knife. Bake for 12 minutes or until set and lightly golden.
Well, there you have it, the recipe for Lembas, personally I think it's good, and I've only had one other person disagree with that.

I actually modified the recipe some; 2 tablespoons hazelnut paste (roasted, blanched, mashed-up, and incredibly yummy hazelnuts), replaced butter with twice as much oil, and replaced the flour with whole-wheat flour. All of this was done in the interest of making these healthier - and thus, more authentic. All in all, I think it worked pretty well, considering it tastes good, and it still tastes good after a week. Nevertheless, the whole wheat taste is kind of overwhelming, so I'll try something else soon.

OMG, that's sounds like the most unappetizing thing in the world, but If you guys say it's good, I trust you both. (sort of).

Well that just shows how you can't apreciate the fine taste of Elvish food. Some elf you make, even Pippin says its good, but then it is food, and Pippin is a hobbit.

I'll have you know that I appreciate elvish food as much as the next elf, and I tried It today, and this recipe was quite good. It's just that i've tried other Lembas recipes, and they were terrible! Sorry for offending anyone. It tasted... tasted.... well, I believe this occasion requires the inventing of a word... Tastiefulliciousnessocity... yeah...
(Wow... time to get a little more dignity. It seems I have no more to spare...)

LOL! Oh BTW, it is now about a month after the making of the weird hazelnut half-elf bread. It is stale and tastes even worse than when I first made it; stick to the regular recipe (still substituting twice as much oil for butter, and unsweetened soymilk for regular milk) if you want to live through a midafternoon snack.

Much thanks for that advice Pip, I'll take that to heart next time I make it.
